Gondor calls for aid shirt
Before I answer this question, let me examine the word “rivalry” in the context of competition among different regions. The reason rivalry exists primarily because there is a lot of pride and emotional investment individual residents have toward the region they live in. It is because there is a strong “local love” for his or her town or city or region that if there is a cause for comparison, such as professional sports teams, economy, landscape, etc., people will get up in arms touting their own region is better.
I do not believe there is a rivalry among these regions of Southern California because the kind of people drawn to Southern California are not emotionally invested in the place they live. Off the bat, 60–70% of the population are international immigrants and, by extension, their children. The immigrants came because there is a niche for them in Southern California, where labor-intensive work for low pay is high in demand. Because Southern California immigrant communities are self-retentive, the first generation US born and raised children tend to be more emotionally connected to the countries where their parents come from, especially if they are not doing economically well and “are feeling trapped inside their ghettos.”
