When I lived in a log cabin in an isolated area of the Idaho mountains, the nearest town with a grocery store, pharmacy, doctors, and a school with more than one room was an hour and 30 minutes away, down a narrow, winding 2 lane road (one lane for each direction), often with a steep cliff down one side or the other. Avalanches that blocked the road were frequent occurrences in the long winters. Other cars either coming or going were infrequent - we could go for 15–20 minutes without seeing another vehicle. On one occasion, my husband’s cousin was driving us down into town to go to a doctors appointment, buy groceries, etc.
Suddenly, just as we were going around a deep curve with little visibility in the mountains, a blue SUV came up behind us, zoomed around our car, swerving into the oncoming traffic lane with no chance of being able to see what car might be coming towards him, and quickly cut in front of our car, forcing our cousin to slam on his brakes to avoid hitting his SUV.
